THE "APEX" PRIMING and COMPRESSION VALVE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES FULL SIZE OF FITTING. One of those detail improvements which help to make the PERFECT CAR As compared with the usually adopted lever plug tap the "Apex" Valve has the following advantages: IN USE— Always tight, but never sticks. The lever tap often bakes fast, and attempts to open it break off the slender lever handle; on the other hand, if slack enough to operate easily, it leaks with bad effect both on the compression and suction strokes. No projections to get entangled with the cleaning rag or waste. When screwed down firmly on the grummet no adjustment is required. IN FITTING— The plug tap requires adjustment to bring the levers into a symmetrical position; this takes time and often results in a little more force being applied than the screwed tails will stand, with consequent fracture and more loss of time in extracting the broken tails from the cylinder heads. The body being made of steel, it is far stronger than any brass cock of similar size. It is therefore much less liable to breakage either in fitting or in use. IN TESTING— The flame of the explosion is clearly visible when the valve is slightly opened. To find the position of the piston in the cylinder for valve setting and timing a wire can be passed right through the "Apex" Valve when the stem is removed. The neat appearance of the "Apex" Valve and its small size make it suitable for the compactly designed cylinder blocks of even the smallest car engines. The non-conducting wheel is a point to be noted; it is firmly keyed to the spindle under heavy compression. This Valve has been tried out under thousands of miles of service over all kinds of roads and has made good. APEX TRADE MARK. Stocked in two sizes of screwing, 3/8" and 1/2" Whitworth gas threads.
