BW from ROY.{Sir Henry Royce} or to WOT. c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X4557 RECEIVED ROY{Sir Henry Royce}1/MG14.2.23 G.II - STEERING WHEELS We have at last received advice from the I.R & G.P.Company, Silvertown (after three applications) re covering the above, the result being:- (a) The present Dover Wheel, complete, costs 26/- and supplies from the new Dies which the Dover Company have now finished, and claim will overcome our present troubles, should be available in about 14 days when they say they can proceed with bulk manufacture at the rate of at least 50 per week. (b) Fermans want £49.10.6d for Dies for making the centre, and 4/1d for the Die Casting, and could commence delivery in about one month; whilst the I.R & G.P. Company offer to cover 5 per week in 5 weeks from receipt of centres, and want £10. for the Moulds, and 35/- each for the covering, i.e. (c) Assuming we order 100 of these Silvertown type Wheels, they will cost us 39/- each plus approximately £60. for the necessary Dies and Moulds. (d) If we give Silvertown an order for covering 200 of the Wheels, they are prepared to withdraw their Mould charge, but Fermans want their £49.10.0 Die charge irrespective of the number we order. The Hightensite Company regret their inability to tender for the covering of such wheels. If you are in agreement, shall you issue a Standardisation Sheet ? or will you wait until initial supplies of the new Dover Wheel are here in about 14 days ? ROY.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
