Observations on piston ring wear for the 22 G.V. model.

While examining the pistons removed from the above car, the following was observed and measured up. Grooves for rings. The top ring revolves, and wears both top and bottom of groove. The second ring only wears bottom of groove, carbon on top side. The third ring only wears bottom of groove, carbon on top side. The top ring wears more than second or third, and leaves a very fine edge in contact with the piston, see sketch second ring also but not the same amount. In view of this would it not be advisable to fit the L ring in the top groove? ---------- G.W.H. | ||
