FRONT WHEEL BRAKES.

We are meditating cancelling the effective brake bedding on the Phantom and the 20 HP. front wheel brakes and reverting to an even bedding all over the shoe.

Under the circumstances we are trying to induce the Production to arrange for the Ferodo on the brake straps to be ground so that no filing will be necessary when these are built up.

From a recent conversation with Mr. Willis, we have ascertained that he considers the limits on the drum to Carrier-plate spigot and brake strap fulcrum pin are such that the brake straps when they leave the grinding machine should at present give the desired result.

Under the circumstances we should like you to procure one or two sets of brake shoes and carrier plates as produced on Production, the shoes having been ground, and build them up on a front axle.

Examination of the bedding obtained would then indicate whether the present production methods are sufficiently good to give the result which we desire.
