COPY. ROLLS ROYCE OF AMERICA, INC. Springfield, Mass. U.S.A. ACR/8870. February 10, 1926. Rolls-Royce Ltd. London, England. Gentlemen: The Phantom chassis that you have shipped to us up to the present we believe are equipped with 15/52 ratio axle gears. Due to the additional weight of the Phantom chassis and the additional body weight due to the long wheel base on most of the chassis on order, the low speed performance of the car with 15/52 axle is not greatly different from our standard cars, though the high speed performance is much better. With the 14/52 axle the low speed performance is greatly improved. It is the unanimous recommendation of our Works Committee that all of the chassis which you ship to America, both those now on order, and any we might order in the future, as well as any cars sold through your London or Paris agents for export to America, should be equipped with 14/52 axles. Will you kindly let us have your reply that you are in agreement, as soon as possible? Yours very truly, ROLLS-ROYCE OF AMERICA, INC. (Sgd.) A.C. Ross. Purchasing Agent. ACR/MH.{M. Huckerby} | ||
