(22) 1. - For the start of the race, this being given with the engine stopped. 2. - For starting up subsequently during the race. In the case of cars shown in the catalogue as being fitted with a permanent starting handle, this device will be sealed so as to make hand starting of the engine impossible. In the case of cars where the starting handle is not a permanent fixture, the device will be sealed in order to make hand starting impossible without removing the seal. Competitors must have arranged all devices ready so that the last and only operation the Stewards have to carry out is the placing of the string or wire bearing the guarantee seal. Should these devices not be installed, ready to receive the seals at time of weighing in, a fine of Frs 50 per device not fitted will imposed on the competitor. HORNS, DRIVING MIRRORS, SILENCERS, FIRE EXTINGUISHERS Art. 26. - Vehicles must be provided : 1. - With horns complying with the " Code de la{L. A. Archer} Route ". 2. - With a rear vision mirror with a minimum effective surface of 80 square centimetres (12.4 sq. inches). 3. - With an efficient exhaust silencer. The efficiency of the silencer is defined and checked as follows : The exhaust must procure the sensation of a muffled and continuous sound in which the explosions of each cylinder are not sharply marked. 4. - With an exhaust which does not raise dust. The exhausts will be tested on a surface covered with dust or sawdust. - When the engine is running, the exhaust must raise neither the dust nor the sawdust. In any case, the exhaust must not be more than 60 cm (23.63 ") above the level of the road (the car not being loaded). 5. - With a fire-extinguisher placed within easy reach of the driver. SILENCER CUT-OUT Art. 27. - Competitors whose car is fitted with a silencer cut-out and who wish to use it during the race must make a declaration to this effect at the time of weighingin and checking. The declared silencer cut-outs above referred to will also be tested above a surface covered with dust or sawdust; when the engine is running the cut-out must not raise the dust or sawdust. If the cut-out of a car does not comply with the above requirements its use will be prohibited during the race. ... | ||
