BIRMINGHAM 19 8th December 1933. Messrs.Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. WST For the attention of Mr.H.E.West. Dear Sirs, Thank you for your letter of December 7th. With reference to the point which you raise regarding the regulator requiring 15 amps at 13 volts to cause it to operate,(cold) and 16 amps at the same voltage when the regulator is warm, we should like to point out that all regulators of this type require a slightly higher current to cause regulation initially than they require to maintain regulation. The difference between the initial current and the current which is maintained over a large speed range is of the order of 2 amps and is not a serious factor in the good behaviour of a regulator. We are wondering if this is the point where you say you experienced a large variation. We are handing a copy of your letter on to the works with the object that they shall pay particular attention to maintaining the uniformity of the regulators which you receive. Yours faithfully, JOSEPH LUCAS LIMITED. M Robinson | ||
