BOOSTED EAGLE. 4114 (3804 HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} has sent me the result of tests in conjunction with the boosted output of the Eagle engine, and where it has been able to do 450HP. at 2400 RPM. with a fuel of 25% aromatics. It will be seen therefore that this engine would easily have done the HP. I proposed, and we think there is no doubt we could have got within the weight specified, and we believe under those conditions it would have been equal in reliability to the Curtiss, but at the same time we are expecting still better results from the new Falcon X. which will be better for head resistance, supercharger, and many other features. The new model of this engine should have every attention, as it should be of great value to us, and to the country. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
