5. 3rd Motion Shaft - cont. Flange of outer member Ex.19643 fouling rivets for 3rd Speed Driven Gear. Bushes for 3rd speed gear G.82425 worn .008" on flange causing excessive end float. 3rd Motion Shaft discoloured on bearing section for 1st motion Shaft bush - slight hard bedding on splines. All gears show even bedding except worm gear for Servo. Drive G.82573 which is slightly worn on sides of teeth. Reverse Shaft. General condition good. Slight hard bedding on bottom of teeth on smaller gear. Ball Bearings. All ball bearings noisy. Ball bearing for front end of 2nd Motion Shaft has .006 end float. Actuating Mechanism. Operating stirrup for 1st and 3rd Speeds worn .025" on side faces and is also worn on the inside adjacent to bearing pins. Operating stirrup for 2nd speed worn .003" on sides, also worn on inside adjacent to bearing pins. Backlash in Gears. The backlash is inclined to be excessive, but this is due partly to the development of end play with gears. 1st speed Gears accumulated backlash - .020" 2nd " " " - .030" 3rd " " " - .048" 4th " " " - .022" Constant Mesh Gears - .007" 2nd Speed Gears - .004" 3rd speed Gears - .002 Servo Motor & Drive. Servo Drive Gear G.83592 badly worn on teeth on driving side also hard bedding on splines. Servo Drive Shaft G.83593 - hard bedding on splines. Friction Linings and Friction Surfaces - general condition good. Linings worn .007-.008". Friction Surfaces very slightly scored. Change Gear Mechanism. - General condition good. | ||
