- 3 - BENTLEY II 1. Thin Engine Oils Hancock at K.{Mr Kilner} is arranging for these to be tried on (a) new cars known to be used chiefly for town work, and, (b) cars that have to be rebored under 20,000 miles. 2. Thinner Steering Wheel A sample is awaited. 3. Streamlined Car from France Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} said it was due this week. A programme is to be be arranged on its arrival when we know the period during which it is available for us. BENTLEY III 1. Car for France This should be ready to go by the end of September. Whilst all the mods. are in the gearbox and the functioning should be as the final box it is not the latest casting. 2. Semi-floating Axle This is referred to in BY4/GIO.9.38. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} asks for Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} details of the saving in cost and also its advantages and disadvantages. 3. Gearbox (Wraith or BIII Universal) Experimental Dept. are waiting for the gears for the universal box. Enquiry was made as to the differences in this gearbox. They are reported to be chiefly detail mods. to reduce costs. It is really a B.50 box with cost reductions. | ||
