| - 2 - WRAITH R.H. REPORT. 3. Cracked Valve Seats This item was taken next in conjunction with Mx {John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} 's report on 27-G-VI. HY {Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} explained that they were on with this job and were making a modification inside the cylinder head casing which it was anticipated would remove this trouble. HY {Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} explained his two theories as to the cause of these cracked valve seats. He called for an analysis of Wraith cars and their use in order to try and discover whether any special circumstances common to all cars have given rise to this trouble. HY {Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} is trying to reproduce the fault and in the meantime the foundry are not casting any more heads of the present type. To the question as to why we changed from the type of head to which we are now reverting BY said it was due to difficulties of casting and overheating. RHC {R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} said he would be able to hold up production one month while investigation continues on the lines described by HY. {Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} A report was called for at the next interim meeting in two weeks time. 4. Replacement Wraith A discussion concerning this model centred round the difference in body mounting and it appears that whilst the body space is the same it is doubtful whether the standard Wraith body would fit it because of the different form of body. mounting . Sg {Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} pointed out the body production difficulties and it was left for a further investigation to be made. 5. Information concerning Costs. RHC {R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} reported that he was now awaiting the results of the first batch of chassis which would help him to give this information. It is anticipated that the biggest reductions on the estimates would be expected on assembly. RHC {R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} was therefore asked to produce at the next conference the estimates and the results so far obtained. | ||
