Referring to B-105-AE, J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Lumb, clearly this is abnormal since he has twice seized a piston, whereas the total failures from this cause as far as we know are about four. If it is at all possible we should very much like to see the chauffeur and the car, because they might enable us to find out whether exceptional driving conditions or the location of the garage at the foot of a hill have any bearing on the trouble. In any case we should certainly recommend that the scraper rings with reduced groove width should be fitted, which will give slightly higher oil consumption with considerably greater immunity from a chance of piston seizure. We hardly think that, unless the car was allowed to idle for a considerable period with the mixture in the fully strong position, it would put sufficient wet mixture into the cylinders to cause this trouble.
