GEARBOX 8.HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}

By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} has asked us to carry out some experiments to find out whether 3rd. speed bushes wear when there is an adequate oil supply inside the shaft.

Will you please, therefore, fit to No.8. box 3rd. speed bushes in bronze with .002" inside and outside clearances and .001" end float.

We shall require a ¼" diameter hole in the plug at the rear end of the 3rd. motion shaft through which we shall feed oil.

This test will be done on 30-EX. dynamometer chassis.
