Re Supply of Technical information to Depots and Company's Technical Officials.
-------------------------
BJ12/H20.5.25.
-------------------------

The matter of supplying information to all Depots and Company's Technical Officials, to assist in keeping our cars in good running condition, is still dealt with regularly. Although EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} is now under Sales, the Technical Department of our Production Test Dept., prepare the necessary particulars for circulation, as they did when EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} was in that Department. The Production Test Dept, however, do not circularise the information, but submit it to EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} for his approval in a similar manner to the way in which we hand chassis over to him/to pass. He then distributes the information at his discretion, to all Depots and Company's Technical Officials.

It would appear, however, that while this information is very useful in keeping our cars in good running condition, it does not, as suggested by Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} include sufficient information to be given to certain officials of the Company, and this therefore brings out a point which I would like to put before you.

When it was decided - possibly some 8 or 9 years ago - to commence to supply information which we thought would be helpful in keeping our cars in good running order, such particulars were only furnished to about 6 officials of the Company. Since then, however, owing to the Company having grown, it is now necessary to circularise Depots and Officials of the Company to the extent of about 72 copies of the information which we prepare. From this you will therefore see that there are certain difficulties in the way, and we necessarily have to be careful to see that certain information is not supplied to Depots and all the officials of the Company. For instance, certain information must only be passed along to R.{Sir Henry Royce} Other information must be passed along to possibly 5 or 6 Officials of the Company, whilst less important information can be given to Depots, etc. with safety.

You will therefore see that whilst it may be that we have not supplied the fullest information regarding certain discoveries which have been found, we have on the other hand, avoided supplying information which should not be known outside certain Officials of the Company. In view of the above remarks, and with your approval, we propose still to carry on issuing to all Depots and Officials of the Company, our present circulars which include useful information to
