To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from F.{Mr Friese} c. to Wr. c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to Mr. c. to W. X4003 F.3/Av/D22.11.23. Reference 'phone conversation regarding the new type camshafts which are required for the F.{Mr Friese} Engines in the Fairey 'Firefly', Westland 'Wizard', Saunders and Hawker 'Hornet' (Interceptor Aircraft). These machines are all supposed to be at Martlesham by the end of this month. The Ministry say we may change the camshafts if we can do it without delaying flight trials which are expected to commence about December the 10th. Will you please say how soon the camshafts can be made available either for changing prior to engines leaving the Makers' Works, or at Martlesham? The Air Ministry will allow us to change the camshafts at Martlesham, if necessary, but they want to know so that they can make arrangements. F.{Mr Friese} | ||
