All experimental chassis engines should be run with plain parallel bolts slipped in the holes where the flywheel bolts to the crankshaft. I have instructed this previously as an experiment, in accordance with R's requirements, but I think the best way to deal with it would be to see that all of our engines are run that·way, under which conditions we should accumulate experience, and later, if R.{Sir Henry Royce} raises it again, we should be in a position to safely say whether it could be adopted or not. (I do not propose to make any change in this direction, but I certainly think we ought to do something so that if R.{Sir Henry Royce} raises the issue later, he cannot ear-mark us for having done nothing.
