GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}/5/JAB. 17th August 1936 COMPLAINTS. A new Bentley chassis in Paris just arrived from England was turned down for brake squeaks & inefficency. The bad bedding was pointed out to me. It was chiefly on the heel of the shoes none on the tips. The inefficency was caused by the aluminium shoes on the front brakes being nipped up by the anchorage bolt. The bronze bearing bush was short by approximately .010". The Fitter complained that latterly this job had become a usual thing. It looks as if the thickness of the shoes is not being checked or a batch of bushes are on the short side. ---------------- G.W.H. | ||
