AJL X4491. To ~~BY. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} ~~ from ROY {Sir Henry Royce} c. to Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ROY {Sir Henry Royce} 1/MG20.9.30 RECEIVED SEP 02 1930 HS {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Tangyes have now completed a sample Jack to the revised design you suggested. I have asked Stores to pass it to you, and perhaps you will kindly pass it on to Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} for actual test in due course. This latest Jack has a screwed post and bevel wheel cast in one; and they have used a gunmetal cap and Mild Steel Bevel Pinion in order to get the sample through in reasonable time. In the event of bulk business they suggest the Cap and Bevel Pinion should be in malleable iron, and the top of the cap and bottom of the base not machined. ROY {Sir Henry Royce} [Signature] | ||
