BY6-F29.4.20. contd. - 2 - c/- The curvatures of the various plates are to be modified as follows; The Main Plate. The radius of curvatures of this plate will be decreased a certain amount, whilst in the case of the shorter plates the radii of curvatures are to be increased, so that approximately measured at the centre of the spring when the plates are lying loose upon one another, that is, not tightened down with the central bolt, there will be a space not greater than the thickness of the plate itself, for the 2nd plate the others less in proportion. d/- All plates are to be ground on a wet grind-stone, so that the cross section of the plate shows a straight line and in taking the spring from end to end there will be, generally speaking, a good bedding the full width of the spring for the whole length covered by any two plates. (2) Front Spring. a/- As in the case of the rear spring no nibs or slots are to be produced in springs beyond those which have already been produced. b/- R.R. Ltd, are to produce forgings for clips suitable for locating the spring plates sideways in order to take the place of the nibs and slots. (3) Rear Spring of the present design for which the plates have not yet had the ends sheared off to drawing size. a/- In dealing with springs which are in the state above referred to the whole of the items under paragraph (1) apply, but in addition Messrs. Woodheads are fitting the springs together without shearing the ends, whilst R.R. Ltd, are endeavouring to fix within the next two or three days, the width of tip and the angle with the sides of the spring at which we propose to shear the ends of the springs off in the near future. contd. | ||
