CARS - INDUCTION PIPE HEATING. X.7070 X.5070 X.7080 Apparently from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}' reports and our own impressions we must give up all thought of hot water heating of throttles on cars, and retain our exhaust hot spot as near the carburetter as we dare. We must however try to get this effective without the valve in the exhaust. The most hopeful scheme is to have an independent pipe and outlet (fish-tail) and trust to the silencer back pressure to help the flow to the carburetter heating. I have added to this scheme (and to any scheme that will get over hot at full throttle) a valve in the carb. heating system which closes, or partly closes, as the throttle opens. I believe this idea is novel, and should be patented if only to protect ourselves. Will Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/ACL. try what can be done with this and any other likely scheme, with temporary pipes. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
