-4- no sign of weakness and have remained well tightened up. The brakes are efficient, one notch of adjustment has been taken up. Squeaks developed from the brakes after 5,000 miles report. They became very bad, damping segments were replaced which entirely cured the squeaks. They have again been taken off and squeaks have reappeared. It is therefore necessary to retain the damping segments on the 25 HP brakes. Failure of the lubrication to O.S. pivot comprising, front ball end, toggle shaft, and pivot was found to be due to the failure of the Enots lubricator. The felt filter inthe lubricator had been forced through the gauze and had became jammed in the oil passage of the axle feeding the pivot. This has been fully reported upon and sketches sent. The steering became very sluggish through this failure of lubrication. The brake shoes were in good condition, the drums have scored slightly. Cross steering tube ball ends have been amply lubricated, the load has remained consistent. FRONT SPRINGS AND FITTINGS TO ARROT F 55538 FRONT SPRING F 55524 GROOVED FOR BIJUR LUBRICATION OF PLATES. CADMIUM PLATED SPRINGS. LOAD N.S. 660 LBS O.S. 668 LBS We have examined the springs. The whole of the plates are well lubricated and no fractures can be detected. The shackles and pins are well lubricated no excessive wear has taken place. REAR SPRINGS AND FITTINGS TO ARROT F 56085 REAR SPRINGS F 55609 ROLLED REAR EYES GROOVED FOR BIJUR LUBRICATION SPRINGS CADMIUM PLATED LOADS N.S? 614 LBS O.S. 642 LBS. The springs have examined lubrication of the plates is ample, no flaws can be observed, the shackles and pins show no excessive wear. The springs clips have reamined firm. The springing of the car is good on all medium surfaced roads, the springs have been down on the buffers when going over pot holes and after striking uneven surfaces. STEERING COLUMN TO L.O.P. F 56474 LOWERED STEERING CONTROLS TO N.S. 2882 STEERING WHEEL F 56642 The steering has been very good for the selectiveness, absence of shocks, no sign of wabble at high or low speeds throughout the mileage. The sluggishness that came apparent was due to loss of the lubrication as reported elsewhere. There is a slight leak of oil from the steering arm gland, the loss of oil has not been excessive .125 of a pint has been added to the box during the 10,000 miles. The condition of the Wheel, Column, and Controls are good. SIDE STEERING TUBE TO L.O.P. F 56003 The loading of the side steering tube has remained consistent, except for the period of the failure of the lubrication, to the front ball end, the rear ball end has been well lubricated throughout the mileage. FRONT AXLE REAR SHOCK DAMPERS TO L.O.P. F 55944 AND F 55965 The loss of the oil from the damper glands has been considerably lessened by dropping .../... | ||
