( 4 ) With the heavier car it may be necessary for the spheres at the rear end of the torque arms to be packed down still further to centralise the top yoke bearings. 17) Leak from Offside Rear Damper Gland. The leak is quite bad, necessitating replenishment every 2,000 miles. As the part is identical with that used on production for a number of years the trouble is very disappointing. It was also experienced on 8.B.V. FRAME, FITTINGS, CONTROLS, Etc. 18) Bonnet Knocks & Radiator Movement. Diagonal stays have been fitted which have made a big improvement in the general feeling of steadiness of the front of the car and the knocks have been cured. Sideways shake of small magnitude on the bottom central rubber mounting of the radiator is now in evidence. A modified rubber mounting has been called for which will resist sideways movement. A larger hole in the radiator for the starting handle is also required. 19) The B.V. pedal angles are not suitable for the upright driving position. A special pedal scheme to suit is really required but will involve some major modifications. 20) Squeaks from Earthing Contact in Offside Front Hub. This trouble was also experienced on 8.B.V. The arrangement as it stands is not very satisfactory and some alternatives should be tried. 21) Rear Bumper Bar Brackets Broken. The whole arrangement is weak and too flexible and wants re-designing. 22) Tail Pipe at Side as on B.V. This has been fitted up to try and reduce the amount of exhaust fumes which enter body. | ||
