Contd. X 3436 Chassis^2 - 1EX R24/HO.8.20.

X.3763 - You will remember I strongly advocated well pumped tyres for Isle of Man TT 1906, to get low petrol consumption.

X.607. X.3014b. X.3763b. The Battery is good, but probably low, as dynamo is unreliable, and perhaps out temporary connection has come off. Kindly change the dynamo for a goodone with improved connection such as you are sending out, keeping this a Lucas outfit.

I think I may ask you to let me have this car back on Tuesday 17th, but will see later.

X.3651. You will see that the Carburetter is set rather strong, so as to take advantage of the range of control. It is better like this for starting cold, and can be made too weak even when water is boiling. Slightly too much radiator is blanked off for hot weather, but it gave no trouble, but showed slight boiling occasionally.

X.1583 The engine was emptied of lubricating oil, and refilled with good Castrol, (i.e. large % of castrol oil). The engine always seemed very smooth, and quiet, with good compression.

X.3436. The rear down-take exhaust came loose, and gave rather noisy coughing exhaust, until a quiet place was found to screw it up. The washer was early lost so that otherwise, no harm can arise, but it would be wise to kick this [handwritten: Lock], if we could do so simply.

I think I have a scheme with a piece of sheet iron and a piece of thin wire.

Hope 6.EX will be better than 1.EX but it will take doing.

R.{Sir Henry Royce}
