RE LARGER PETROL TANK FOR 35-LW. GIBBS.

With reference to By6/P30.7.19., Mr. Royce now says that only one standard should be used, and this should be 20 gallons which should suit everybody. He points out that the new tank has been lengthened for the new type shock absorbers and will require only a small increase in size to carry two gallons extra and that we should fit no extra tanks.

As far as I understand the matter, our present standard, which we are manufacturing, is for 18 gallons and this covers only a comparatively few chassis, rather less than 50. We intended to increase the length of the tank at the earliest possible moment to suit the new shock absorbers, so that these shock absorbers could be fitted to these later chassis after they had left the Works, without changing tanks. If this is so we may perhaps be able to increase the size of these tanks which we originally altered only for the shock absorbers, so that they are of 20 gallons capacity.

Will you please look into this m-atter and ascertain at what stage we can bring in the 20 gallon tank as standard for all. In the meantime of course the 20 gallon tank should be instructed for 35-LW.
