FORT DUNLOP ERDINGTON BIRMINGHAM 5. 3. 30. W.A.Robotham Esq., Experimental Dept., Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., D E R B Y. Dear Sir, I am sending you under separate cover, 4 engine mounting blocks with a free length of 1.450" and drilled with a half-inch hole to give a deflection of 0.150" under 400 lbs load, as requested in your letter of the 24th ult. According to our tests, these sample blocks are very close to your requirements. The compound we have used is No.11 and I hope you will find the rubber satisfactory for your tests. I am informed by our Accessories Dept. which has in hand the preparation of the blocks under your Order No.99198, that an unforeseen difficulty has occurred which prevented the completion of the work last week, but the matter is being pressed forward with all possible speed and I trust that you will receive the blocks in the course of a day or so, and that the delay will not have occasioned any undue inconvenience. We have now had the opportunity of examining the two samples which proved unsatisfactory in the test referred to in your letter of the 13th February, and we feel sure that the blocks we have supplied will be a very big improvement in respect of permanent set. Yours faithfully, FOR THE DUNLOP RUBBER CO.LTD., H.G. Masheter. Compounds Div. Technical Dept. | ||
