Re. WEIGHT OF 40/50 CHASSIS.

In reply to your memo of 20.1.33. we quote EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}'s chassis weights and series, and shew where we base our increased weight.

E.P. weights 7.1.32.

15.12.31. 42-JS.{Mr Johnson's Secretary} First 50 in N.series 3834
6. 5.32. 16-MS. " " N. " 3830
15.9.32. 114-MS. After 51 in N. " 3918 + 88 lbs.
3. 1.33. 14-MY. " " O.{Mr Oldham} " 3976 + 58 lbs.

Increase from 51 in N.series to O.{Mr Oldham} = 146 lbs.

Previous to N.series and up to 51 in N. we increased 80 lbs. in weight due to the following alterations -

(1) 60"/ wider track. (8) Centre point rad. suspension.
(2) Fixed starting handle. (9) Strengthened type rear step irons.
(3) Hinged filler cap. (10) 50% increased capacity of Bijur oil pump.
(4) Front apron. (11) Central lubrication to front and rear axles.
(5) Instrument patch. (12) Mod. dash and overhanging bonnet.
(6) Wider brake shoes. (13) Untarnishable finish to chassis.
(7) Anti-squeak brake shoes. (14) Bonnet with flip-flap shutters.

After 51 in N.series, the following modifications were made standard -
