RE 'GOSHAWK II' - FRONT SPRING SHACKLE -N. SCHEME 741.

Kindly note the following points which Mr. Royce would like altered on the above scheme :-

(1) The side flange of the bracket should be extended a little to allow more heel round the two attaching bolts. Washers should be used on the inside of the frame for all the bolts securing the bracket.

(2) Mr. Royce wishes the greaser cups to be formed solid with the spring bolts. The central feed holes should be larger in the stems of the bolts, and should break finally into one cross hole of larger diameter than shown, feeding grease in the case of the top bolt, to the central groove between the two bushes, and in the case of the bottom bolt, to a central groove and holes cut in the bush.

(3) A bolt with a plain head should be used on the forward lug of the bracket, as Mr. Royce thinks we shall not require to stop the shackle in this direction if a front spring should break.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}
