Rolls-Royce, Limited, D E R B Y . 1st June, 1935. For the attention of -. Grylls Esq: Dear Sirs, Confirming our telephone conversation of today, we are putting on passenger train 1.30 from Newark, the bearing 2/MDJT.35 into which we have fitted a steel cage, this being the new bearing which you have returned for this modification, while we are also forwarding the double row New Departure bearing, our Test No. 656.B., and the single row bearing, our Test No. 657.B. These latter two bearings deal with the test at 100 deg.C. of the new Departure self lubricated bearing, and one of our bearings with an 'Oilite' cage, and you will note that both bearings have run for 280 hours, the New Departure bearing having failed owing to the fact that all the lubricant has now disappeared, whereas our bearing with the 'Oilite' cage is still in perfect condition. We trust this is all quite clear, and would assure you of our best attention at all times. Yours faithfully, RANSOME & MARLES BEARING CO. LTD. msh MANAGING DIRECTOR. Under separate cover: Three bearings. | ||
