X1070 Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}7/KW. 13th January, 1936. F.O. Hickling Esq., The Ransome & Marles Bearing Co.Ltd., Newark-on-Trent. Dear Hickling, Herewith a drawing of the back axle in which we are troubled by wear of the differential pinion thrust washers. I hope you can see some way of replacing these by parallel roller thrust bearings. This applies not only to the 4 differential pinions but also to the half shaft integral pinions. On all 6 of these a shim adjustment is required for initial setting of the backlash. At the moment this is carried out by choosing from a large assortment of bronze washers. Yours sincerely, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
