Paris Conf file Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}11/R.12.6.39. CONFERENCE OF TESTERS HELD IN Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}'s TECHNICAL OFFICE 9.6.39. CONTINENTAL CAR 14-B-V.{VIENNA} The following points were raised in connection with the specification on this car:- (1) Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager} is going to prepare an alternative exhaust system consisting of the Burgess which previously gave satisfactory results strengthened up to avoid the baffle failure. (2) GR.{George Ratcliffe} will ensure that the correct starter carburetter and pipe for internal passages is available. If the large pipe is delayed the car will start with a small pipe with integral passages. (3) JBD.{John B. Dixon - Fuel Systems} will see that the electric petrol reserve is fitted to it. (4) AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale} stated that he expected the aluminium front dampers to be ready in time. (5) Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} asked Ed.{J. L. Edwards} to have alternative fans available as this car will not be expected to have as good an idling factor as our other models and we do not want to use more horse-power to drive the fan than necessary. (6) Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} was asked to instruct magnesium axle centre casings and gearbox castings when designs were sufficiently stabilised to ensure that these parts would be useful. (7) It was emphasised that this car would leave for France before the end of June. RIPPLE - 12-B-V.{VIENNA} It has been decided to send this car to France with a Bentley radiator with all the other Ripple parts, (with the exception of the lightened frame fitted to it so that we can release this car for production. It is anticipated that it will leave for the Continent before the end of July. The main parts which require fitting | ||
