Dear Sirs,

Klaxon Electric Windscreen Wiper
T.W. 082 12-volts.

Further to our recent correspondence regarding the Klaxon Windscreen Wiper issued under the above number.

We have now had an opportunity of carefully examining the unit which you were good enough to return to us, but we regret we were unable to repeat under actual working conditions the test figures which you were good enough to forward to us.

We do not know whether this is due to the fact that we have operated same on a wet glass and you have carried out your tests on a dry glass only.

However, the unit as it stands is completely useless and naturally we immediately took steps for approaching the whole matter with a view to meeting your requirements. We have therefore, made up another sample with shunt windings and are forwarding this together with two gear boxes and flexible drives complete, to enable you to carry out a bench test, and if satisfactory mount same to one of your chassis for a road test.

We would however, like to emphasise the point that in our opinion some of the trouble is undoubtedly attributed to the fact that proper regard has not been had for accurate alignment of the flexible drive shafts.

You will appreciate it is necessary to review the matter with a view to giving instructions so that the drive for at least 4" from the unions is carefully lined up with the armature shaft to avoid undue wear and excessive temperature
