( 2 ) I2) Undersheets sent out with car fitted. These fouled the front brake rod in the bottom of the slot provided. The lower triangle levers also fouled on full bump. The sheets have been made to clear at these points. I3) Special 40° servo cams to reduce front braking have been fitted. I4) Handbrake dismantled and pawl operating mechanism re-fitted where tight and fouling. I5) Bonnet cleared away where fouling scuttle at back edge. I6) Lucas F.T. 67 centre lamp, ex. 6.B.IV. fitted and wired so that dipper switch changes over from headlamps to centre lamp for dimming. The following points have been noted :- BRAKES. There is only 3.1/2" useful pedal travel after which the rear bell crank levers on the frame side members come on to their stops. This corresponds to ten notches on the handbrake. If the rear brakes are more than six notches out of adjustment, the bell cranks come on to the stops with maximum braking. There does not appear to be any lost movement in the system. The range of movement of the rear bell cranks should be increased to make full use of the available pedal travel. This would however allow the stop on the rear equaliser to come on and produce the same trouble. This stop would require modification. EXHAUST SYSTEM. The slotted joints at each end of the silencer are blowing slightly. We note that efforts have been made to cure these by means of Jubilee clips. Judging from our experience of this type of joint on other makes of cars, we can forsee trouble both on production and in service if they are adopted. | ||
