Body Mounting on 34-EX.

The writer visited Messrs. Park Ward yesterday to investigate the trouble experienced in mounting the body on rubber.

Park Ward's difficulty was in bolting the body in position. The washers were pulling through the soft rubber blocks to F.58133 and F.84086 supplied by R.R., these fit underneath the body bracket. The steel washers F.55810 and F.58475 were also too small in diameter.

Ultimately we cut new rubber blocks from some harder rubber of 70 durometer. These, together with larger steel washers which we had made, should enable the Coachbuilders to complete the job.

The width of the larger rubber blocks was reduced from 1" to .625" and the new blocks for the wheel arch and body tail were cut .500" thick. The sketch shows the new sizes.

We are not satisfied, however, with these rubbers. They should be enclosed at the ends in cup washers, they would be better steel moulded; this would prevent the rubber spreading.

NEW RUBBERS.
