To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} + 819 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}3/KW.25.5.34. Metal Floorboards. We have a set of metal floorboards running now on the Streamlined Bentley. These are the latest type. We are very enthusiastic about this improvement because it tends to reduce booming in the body, and also increases the clearance above the gearbox. We should like to get these into production as soon as possible, and before issuing a Standardisation Sheet recommend that Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} comes to the Works to discuss the Coachbuilding side of the alteration. It is not possible to cut these metal floorboards in the same way as the wooden ones are at present dealt with, and therefore some procedure will have to be established to overcome the difficulty.
