(3) wheels should be formed from two wheels mounted side by side and both meshing with the other gear. One of this pair of wheels would be fixed to its shaft, and the other mounted by a spring connection, in order to keep one face of the teeth continually in contact. This was a fairly common device in certain classes of machines and was quite satisfactory. Mr Swetnam was called into the meeting. Mr Hadin explained the difficulties which were being discussed, to Mr Swetnam, and the Committee agreed after further discussion, that Mr Swetnam should design some device such as the one described for overcoming our difficulties. Mr Wormald was of the opinion that we should continue to press the Bosch Co. in this matter. The Committee agreed that this was advisable. | ||
