W/S. Whr.{Mr Wheeler} from EFC. X87834 EFC7/T8.6.28. EXIDE BATTERY FROM CHASSIS 48-YC -Mr. L.W. Thompson- Our own experience with standard Exide Phantom batteries which normally certainly do not exhibit the trouble complained of by Mr. Thompson, suggests that his trouble must be due to a combination of 1. Over-filling with electrolyte and 2. Over-charging. It is true that the trouble may be accentuated to some extent by uneven road surfaces. The correct level for the electrolyte is 1/2" only above the tops of the plates, and instructions concerning overcharging are contained in the Instruction Book. [Handwritten:] We think it may be assumed that as a result of Mr. Thompsons dealings with the Exide Co., the vent plugs would be correctly inserted.
