-2- and the transmission centre line. The position for the centre line of No.6 cyl. from the back of the dash measured up the transmission line should be 3.650 ins. and not 3.700 ins. SPRINGS. Detail drawings of these already exist. STEERING. Column and box the same as Per.2 except for length. For controls see N.sch. 3544. BONNET. The latest layout of the bonnet is N.sch.3502. Since this was drawn the dash to front axle dimension has been increased to 38.000". The shapes of the bonnet at the back of the radiator and at the scuttle face, section A.{Mr Adams} are correct, but the bonnet length has been increased due to the moving forward of the radiator in all about 3.000". This will make the bonnet narrower at the back edge due to the slower angle of taper. Therefore for the first two cars for which we have bodies made to the original dimensions it will be necessary for you to widen the dash the required amount approx. .200" a side at the bonnet rest. We suggest that for the first cars you use the present 'riveted on' bonnet rest angle instead of the rubber sprung over the cast lip on the dash so that you can make the bonnet to suit the body and then fasten the bonnet rest angle on to the dash to suit. We understand that BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} is producing a layout of the bonnet as it will be used finally and future bodies will be made to that drawing. N.sch.3563 shews the latest bonnet eye at the dash. RADIATOR. The original schemes for the radiator were N.schs.3561, 2 & 6. The subsequent modifications are N.sch.s 3588 and 3606, which shews the mods. due to the change to the J.l. unit. DASHBOARD. Our schemes for this were N.sch. 3634 and 5 and steering support N.sch.3628. We see that there is a dashboard detail drawing. We have done nothing with the layout of the units on the dash as we have got none. The chief features which interest us are that the distribution box shall be in the centre of the dash and that the controls for the dampers shall be 3.250" to 3.500 to one or other side of the centre-line of the car. | ||
