Chassis B-107-GP (Mr. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Dubonnet).

In reference to your memo. Sr/VA.1/OM.3.2.37. the oil pump on B-26-JB (Mr. P.L. Dreyfus) chassis is definitely a large pump.

We note that you are fitting this on the above car and will therefore require another replacement pump and will send one as soon as possible.

The crankshaft in B-26-JB is standard and has not got extra holes in the journals, however the intermediate main bearings have the modified grooves.

B-S-6A.

Re your memo. Sr.3/ET.1.2.37. in which the R.R. 56 rear main bearing seized. we have found that bearings made out of the R.R. 56 material are when analysed not to the true specification of R.R. 56.

This we think is the possible cause of the recent failures we have had in R.R. 56 which in our early tests proved so promising.

With regard to the low oil pressure when the extra holes are drilled in the crankshaft journals we have always recovered the oil pressure to normal of 30-35 lbs. sq. in. at high speeds, hot oil, by the fitting of a large capacity pump.

We do not know which type of pump you have on this car but definitely you should have a large capacity, perhaps you will let us know?.
