Issue with loose Bakelite retaining nuts on Bentley petrol pumps.

Thank you for your memo. C.14/C. 21.2.34, enclosing copy of letter from the Central Garage, Bradford. We do not think for one moment that trouble experienced in the wire Bakelite retaining nuts becoming loose was due to road vibration, but to the fact that they were not tightened properly in the first place. The small retaining spring between the Bakelite nut and fuse is amply strong enough; also the nuts themselves are quite tight on the thread. To avoid a repetition of this we are sending a note to the Test Dept. Final Inspection, asking them to make sure these are screwed down as far as possible before despatch. We may add that this is the first instance in which this has happened, and that both nuts should work loose rather points to the fact that they were not originally tight.
