Test of Tungsten Contact Points on U.S. & Bosch Magneto. Z R 6.
These points, one of which had been soldered on, were fitted, and the gap set to .026", which was taken as being the normal gap for this machine.
After running for 2 1/2 hrs at normal speed, on normal gaps, the sparks suddenly began to fall off accompanied by a violent flashing at the contact-breaker. The points were examined, and found to be badly oxidized, although the machine was alright, and with platinum points, would spark regularly on 7.0 m/m gaps at the same speed.
