SIGNALS

Art. 49. - Throughout the duration of the Le Mans 24 hours race competitors and drivers shall be under the obligation of complying strictly with the indications given by the following signals which may, in case of need, be placed on boards.

a) In the daytime :

Red flag ........ Immediate and complete stop
Yellow flag ...... Beware danger
Green flag ...... Road clear
Blue flag, waved .. Overtaking signal (keep to the right)
Black flag (accompanied by a number). Signal ordering the car bearing that number to stop
Black and white chequered flag (may be accompanied by a number) ...... Notifies the end of the race.

b) At night :

Red, yellow, green or blue lights waved will give the same indications.

Competitors are forbidden to use as informative signals for their drivers flags, emblems or signals resembling these employed by the race officials, as described hereinabove.

In addition to the signal employed as above for the stopping of cars, the race Stewards will get into touch with the representatives of the competitors at their pits to instruct them to stop the cars in case of need.

Whenever, owing to an incident in the race, a car is immobilised in a position such that is constitutes an obvious danger for other competitors, the race manager will forthwith take all suitable measures to clear the course and the vehicle will be withdrawn from the race.

Competitors are informed that control or first-aid cars it might be necessary to allow on the track in cases of emergency will be provided with a half-white, half-red flag.

ARRANGEMENTS AFTER THE STOPPING OF CARS

Art. 50. - The cars of drivers who retire during the race in front of their pits shall be removed by a road appointed for this purpose opening out on the right of the course.

Said cars will be stored in the enclosure reserved for them behind the pits.

Cars which have completed the race, after having been checked at their last crossing over the timekeeper's line, will continue without stopping at their pit to a point which will be indicated to them where their arrival will be finally registered before checking operations are carried out.

CHECKING AFTER THE FINISH

Art. 51. - Competitors must place their vehicles at the disposal of the race Stewards so that all the checks demanded by the latter may be carried out immediately after the end of the race.
