CHASSIS

PHANTOM III

(1) Clutch

The snatch on engagement with lightened clutch operation is being dealt with experimentally. There was a difficulty over the supplies of the latest Long clutch with English centre plate which is being investigated by By with Messrs Borg & Beck. Six sets of materiel promised have not been received, these sets being with a view to R-R manufacturing all or part of the total requirements.

(2) Oil Consumption

Three experimental cars now equipped with 4-port head with non-hydraulic tappets. It has already been established that the 4-port head and non-hydraulic tappets become standard at the commencement of "D" series. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} remarked that it is essential to clarify exactly what is being standardised in this respect in view of Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}'s reference to increased waterways in the 4-port head.

(3) 32-EX

The list of features recommended for adoption on production as result of test is awaited. Certain items were passed on Standardisation Sheets at this Meeting.
