R.R. 235 A (100 T) (S F.{Mr Friese} 846. 6-8-19) G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 2400 X.3751 Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence. EX. 17.3.20. MAR 22 1920 X. 3743. - C/Chassis 2EX. Mr. Hives, Expl: Dept: X.3751 Rolls-Royce Ltd., RECEIVED X.34614 I have wired you today to say that the offside shock absorber lever has broken at the same place as the one reported last week, so that now the Car is being run without shock absorbers on the rear, but as I am still driving the car gently on account of piston rattles, I cannot give you any information about their effect on the steering. I received yesterday from CJ. a copy of your letter Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/LG10.3.20. but did not receive the telegram at Marseilles. I am hoping to be able to dismantle the cylinders on Friday at Nice and then on Monday or Tuesday next I expect to leave here for good and go to Paris in easy stages with passengers. Today I have found out why the platinum points of the battery ignition have pitted so badly. The two screws which hold the condenser in the contact breaker cover were not making good contact although they were tight and did not appear to have worked loose at all. Mileage for last five days 434 miles making total 7730. Petrol consumption 155 litres. T.H. Maddocks. | ||
