Extract from Mr. Hancock's report on 14-GIV after 5,000 miles.

HIGH TENSION WIRES. CELLULOSE LACQUERED CAMBRIC COVERED MACONITE H.T. CABLES.

These are not a good proposition. The lacquered cambric has cracked round in circles the whole length of the exposed wires. We do not consider the cable to be as good as the standard cable at present used.

After 10,000 miles.

These are now in a very poor condition. The lead from the magneto has had to be covered with insulation tape to stop the current from earthing.
