For the attention of W.P. Powell, Esq.

Dear Sir,

With reference to your letter dated July 1st.

We shall be pleased to loan you a suitable engine for your purpose.

This will not be in the strict sense a demonstration model, but an engine used in our Experimental Department until recently for Research work.

The first problem to be arranged will be the transport of this unit to your laboratory, which we will have to leave for you to arrange.

The second question is, do you intend to run this engine under its own power? If so, quite a lot of tackle will be required, such as engine mounting and bed-plate, fuel systems, controls, etc. as well as water supply and some form of exhaust silencer system. We will not be able to supply any of this tackle but if we know beforehand that you will require to run the engine, certain adjustments would be made by us to make sure that it will run satisfactorily.

For your information, the engine is our latest 4¼ litre Bentley type, with 3.500" bore and 4.500" stroke developing 125 BHP at 4000 RPM.

When we have heard further from you, the Writer will be glad to supply you with the necessary technical data connected with this type of power plant.

Yours faithfully,
