COPY. 785, Fifth Avenue, New York, Sept. 2nd., 1919. Rolls-Royce Ltd., Conduit St.{Capt. P. R. Strong}, London, England. Gentlemen, Re Wire Wheels. I am doing everything possible to persuade clients to take wire wheels. There is much adverse criticism on wire wheels in this country, and many people refuse to use them. Inasmuch as Rolls-Royce are catering to the American trade, and doing so with a view to building up a large business, I do believe that trade requirements must be considered, and therefore, strongly urge that you arrange to supply wooden wheel equipment either built here or in London. I will be glad to arrange for spokes and fellow bands here, if you will supply me with hubs. Several customers have expressed great dissatisfaction at a standard wire wheels, and have taken the whole matter quite seriously. We should not permit this condition to exist as general rumor and Club Conversation do us much harm. Yours faithfully, (Signed) R.{Sir Henry Royce} W. Schuette. | ||
