By/NS.{Norman Scott} BENTLEY II REAR AXLE PINIONS. With regard to By.12/N.15.7.38 asking us to try a reclaimed pinion which has a sleeve shrunk on the nose, we do not know of any way of failing this by a quick test. Neither the dynamometer nor running with the roller bearing 20 thou. out of line will cause a failure. About 30,000 miles in the hands of a customer is what causes the trouble. As a reclaimed pinion is very considerably stronger than either of the types which failed on production, we recommend that GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} should try the reclaimed pinion on the customer until failure occurs. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} | ||
