Contd. -2- EH/LG26.6.18. (3) Lightened Camshaft Drive. (4) Pistons with narrow rings, we do not recommend altering the compression as the engines work at very low altitudes. (5) H.R.C.H. carburetters; we should like to see whether we could not fit a single carburetter for the six cylinders. We could use a "Falcon" carburetter with the throat left smaller. (6) The Airship people themselves fit all the "Hawk" engines with Remy ignition. Our battery ignition is definitely better than the Remy and being a six cylinderwould need very little alteration. There are several other small modifications to bring it into line with present practice. We have an "Hawk" engine in the Expl: Shop we could fix it up with these parts and show it off to the Airship people and see whether they approve - that is if Mr. Royce is agreeable. The new parts we are proposing to fit, have all been tried out of the Falcon. The fact of us making the engine so that it can"breathe" more freely, should not affect the reliability of it. AH.
