How “PAXON” Functions
UNLIKE other makes, the air in “Paxon” Patent Pneumatic Upholstery is not compressed under load. The “Paxon” principle—which in practice is found correct—is that the air in a pneumatic cushion should be free, so that when under load it will follow the line of least resistance. If a cushion is restrained from expanding downwards or sideways it will expand upwards and cause uneven displacement, great strain on the case, and rolling is bound to occur.
With “Paxon” Upholstery the air is not compressed under load, and the displacement caused by the weight of the body is automatically compensated by the expansion of the bottom of the cushion, which takes a vertical movement down into the space formed by the hollow of the “Paxon” Patent Grid.
Figure 5 illustrates the action that takes place when “Paxon” Upholstery is in use. Whilst it gives to the load, the passenger does not “bottom,” but remains supported from the base of the spine under the thighs to the knees. The soft rubber bottom of the air cushion expands vertically downwards, and there is no strain whatever on the case, which retains its new and unsagging appearance for the lifetime of the car.
Important. Although the illustrations shown in this leaflet are of a single seat, “Paxon” Upholstery is of course made for all types of seats and squabs for back or front.
