PAXON ~ the Upholstery of SUPREME COMFORT “PAXON” is the only pneumatic upholstery that offers a combination of all the following advantages: NO RECOIL, NO SAGGING, NO ROLLING, NO “BOTTOMING,” and a seat and back that are ALWAYS SOFT and YIELDING. This ideal achievement is the result of lengthy practical experiments and tests spread over many years, and we claim that “Paxon” provides riding comfort and stability to a degree hitherto considered impossible. Description of the Patent “PAXON” System The “Paxon” system comprises: 1. The “Paxon” (Patent) Air Cushion (Fig. 1) in which non-extensible rubber material is used for the top and sides, and very elastic rubber for the bottom, the top and bottom being anchored in the full width by means of two or more non-extensible ribs or reeds, forming inter-communicating air chambers. Under load the elastic rubber expands, but the non-extensible top and sides do not move. The cushion is supported on 2. The “Paxon” (Patent) Grid (Fig. 2) consisting of rubber strips fixed to a bottomless and specially shaped wooden frame. The rubber strips register with the reeds in the air cushion and permit the elastic rubber to expand vertically downwards when under load or shocks, into the necessary space which is provided. 3. The Case, which is made of any suitable material to match the interior of the car. The cushion and grid fit neatly into the case, which then presents an external appearance exactly similar to the spring type of upholstery (Fig. 3). Figure 4 shows the complete seat, with a portion cut away to illustrate the interior of the air cushion with reeds resting on the rubber bars of the grid.
